Girls on the Run SoleMates use the power of running to make a difference for our girls.  We are a team of female and male athletes who pursue individual goals, such as running a marathon (think Chicago!), half-marathon, triathlon or a 10-Miler to raise money for Girls on the Run of Greater Lynchburg with the support of GOTRI.

This name conveys the most fundamental core values of our organization – friendship, concern for others, love.  The word “Mate” is inclusive of men and women.  The word “Sole” visually conveys the foot, a part of the body that our fundraisers use as they move forward, step by step, in achieving their individual goal on behalf of Girls on the Run.

Joining SoleMates is a great way for you to make a difference for the Girls on the Run® of Greater Lynchburg chapter. You can walk, run or bike in any event of your choice and raise funds for our organization. With your support, the message of health and wellness that Girls on the Run brings will continue to spread and grow.

It is easy to become a Solemate, and any adult can join in the effort to raise funds for the girls in the Greater Lynchburg area.  Simply choose any event to participate in.  Register for that event separately.  Then click on the link below to register as a Solemate (there is a $26 registration fee).  When you register as a Solemate, you commit to raising a minimum of $262, which goes directly to our local council.  Active.com will provide you with a fundraising webpage and Girls on the Run will provide support along the way as you train for your event.  As a Solemate, you are setting personal goals for yourself, just as our young girls do when they participate in Girls on the Run.  And you, too,  will experience a sense of pride and satisfaction in reaching your goals and knowing that you have contributed to the Girls on the Run community.

Our SoleMates are Valuable

In 2010, our Solemates raised over $6,000 for girls in the Greater Lynchburg Council, running in the Chicago Marathon.  This was the first marathon for all 4 Solemates, proving that one can set and accomplish goals…even big ones!
